trail work clearing trees for Vermont V.A.S.T snowmobile trails vast

Who We Are

A Letter From Our President

Hello everyone,

The GMSD Officers, Board and Members are so excited to be a part of VAST and the snowmobile community in VT. We look forward to creating a positive snowmobile experience for all members who ride through our area. Our club was formed out of necessity once it was announced by VAST that our trails were in danger of being completely taken off the map.

For those of you who are not familiar, we are responsible for a network of secondary trails that lead you down the mountain from Corridor 7 in Manchester and East Dorset. We envision our trails to be a much needed service hub for southern VT riders with multiple sit down restaurants, hotels and gas available. As most riders in the area know, there is a need to keep and expanded dining and hotel options in southern VT. Without our trails, there would be limited options available between Dover and Ludlow.

We thank you for you patience as we build this club from the ground up. We have done so much in the last 8 weeks to get off the ground but if we are to survive and thrive we are asking for your support. We currently have limited resources. A few of our members have stepped up and offered their personal equipment to get us started with trail maintenance and grooming but ultimately we need to purchase our own equipment moving forward. You can select to join our club on the VAST website under Bennington county in the “Buy TMA” or “Club Only” section.

We envision a healthy working relationship with the other nearby snowmobile clubs as well as the local municipalities and landowners of Manchester and East Dorset. Thank you in advance for any support. See you on the trails.

Best Regards,

Lucas Lecuyer

President GMSD

In southern Vermont's picturesque Green Mountains, the nonprofit snowmobile club, Green Mountain Sno Dogs, is working tirelessly to ensure that the local trail system remains safe and enjoyable not just in the winter months but also during spring and summer.

As winter enthusiasts ourselves, we understand the importance of maintaining the trails for snowmobilers in the Manchester, Dorset, and surrounding areas. However, we also recognize that these trails serve a broader purpose, providing a haven for hikers throughout the year. That's why we have taken up the responsibility to preserve and enhance the trail system for all seasons.

The proceeds from our fundraising ventures, as well as from the purchases of Trail Maintenance Agreements (TMAs), and donations, are directed towards funding machinery, materials, and labor for the maintenance and preservation of our trails.

Including but not limited to:

  • Grooming

  • Addressing trail erosion

  • Maintaining bridge structures

Improving the safety of the paths by:

  • Repairs

  • Marking

  • Clearing of Debris, Brush and Trees

It's our mission to create an environment where outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy the beauty of Vermont's landscapes all year round.
